During offseason last May, the returning Lady Eagle basketball players decided on the theme OHANA for the 2016-2017 campaign. Their reasoning, born out of mutual respect for each other and a prevailing feeling that this year’s team felt like family, called to them to nurture and support each other.
Part of Hawaiian culture, OHANA means family (in an extended sense of the term, including blood-related, adoptive, or intentional). The concept emphasizes that families are bound together and members must cooperate and remember one another. Family means nobody gets left behind—or forgotten.
